How we build new communities

The professional role of journalists has radically changed in the "network society". The former audience is now itself an active public on all channels.

  • How do media in a digital society integrate readers, listeners, viewers at eye level and build their own communities?

  • Can media develop new business models with new membership models and - at the same time - create a new form of journalism?

  • What is the role of professional journalism  when politics and business deal with independent media via Twitter, Facebook and the like?

Media Innovation Day 2019 (#MID19) presents best-practice examples from Germany, Switzerland, Spain and Great Britain. We discuss innovative concepts and connect Austrian and international journalists with audience experts.

With international inputs from Mark Frankel (until 2018 BBC / Philip Morris), Jost Lübben (Westfalenpost), Matthias Lüfkens (Twiplomacy), Klaus Meier (University of Eichstätt), Romanus Otte (Axel Springer / Business Insider), Maria Ramirez (El Diario), Alexandra Stanic (Vice) and many more.

More details about the speakers and the program will follow soon.
