Maria Jelenko-Benedikt verfügt über langjährige journalistische Erfahrung: Nach ihrem Studium der Politikwissenschaften und Publizistik in Wien arbeitete sie als freie Journalistin beim „WirtschaftsBlatt“ und im Pressebereich für diverse Kunst- und Kulturbetriebe. Anfangs als CvD, dann als Online-Chefredakteurin verantwortete sie bei der „Kronen Zeitung“ ab 1997 das Online-Portal „krone.at“ bevor sie ab 2005 als Online-Chefredakteurin den Launch von „oe24.at“ vorbereitete und das Portal schließlich leitete. Zuletzt war Maria Jelenko-Benedikt acht Jahre Online-Chefredakteurin von „heute.at“ sowie stellvertretende Chefredakteurin Print und Digital. Mit Anfang September 2019 hat sie die Chefredaktion Print und Digital der „Regionalmedien Austria“ übernommen.
Maria Jelenko-Benedikt has many years of journalistic experience. After studying political science and journalism in Vienna, she worked as a freelance journalist for WirtschaftsBlatt and in the press sector for various art and cultural institutions. She was responsible for the online portal krone.at at Kronen Zeitung from 1997, initially as CvD and then as online editor-in-chief. From 2005, she prepared the launch of oe24.at as online editor-in-chief and finally managed the portal. Most recently, Maria Jelenko-Benedikt was the online editor-in-chief of heute.at for eight years and deputy editor-in-chief of Print and Digital. At the beginning of September 2019 she took over the chief editorial office of Print and Digital at Regionalmedien Austria.
